Safeway Delivery Deal

This week I took advantage of the $15 off a $50 order at Safeway.com  and because it was my first online order, I got free shipping also ($12.99 value).  


Thru today (11/2), my local ad has fresh Ranchers Reserve beef, chicken and pork products Buy One Get One Free on the Extreme Value Max Paks, The sale is available online as well.   



This worked out to be a fantastic deal because protein coupons are RARE.   Guess what?  Time to stock my freezer with proteins!

4 - Beef Chuck Cross Rib Roasts - 20 lbs
4 - Chicken Leg Quarters - 16 lbs
4 - 80% Lean Ground Beef - 20 lbs

My order was delivered on Monday evening at 5:30pm (as scheduled) and the nice delivery man brought everything into my kitchen for me.

Total cost was $139.87, less $15.00 promotion discount, less BOGO and my cost ended up to be...

$60.00  
for 56 lbs of protein!!
 

I saved $79.87!!

Pepsi Party

I used to be a Diet Coke fan.  That ended 3-1/2 years ago when I married Mr. CHiPy.  I don't know exactly how it happened but I remember that Mr. CHiPy liked Diet Pepsi.  I tired it.  I liked it.  End of story.

So now I love it when Pepsi products go on sale.  This week Safeway is having a great deal - 2 litre Pepsi products for $.77 each.  I stocked up.  Does that surprise anyone?

I keep the lil' fridge in our garage stocked with Pepsi canned products for my grab-n-go needs.  I also keep bottled water nearby.  Cases of it as a matter of fact.  But this post is about Pepsi and the great deals available at Safeway this week.

I love this little fridge.  It used to be in my office and now it's in my garage right next to the door just ready for the taking.  Nothing like a cold, refreshing Diet Pepsi on a hot summer's night.  Oh, and I recently discovered the cherry goodness!  So good.

Food Storage Deals - Cereal & Pop Tarts

Boy of boy, do I have a sweet story to tell about all of this cereal.  There are 30 boxes pictured here.

Our local Savemart was offering a great deal on cereal and pop tarts this past week - purchase 10 boxes of Kellogg's participating cereals and pop tarts, get them for $1.98 each and THEN get a $10 catalina back.  This was a great deal that I knew I could not pass up,  Especially since my supply was running low and I had a TON of cereal and pop tart coupons from earlier in the year that came in $5.00 coupon booklets inside of other participating Kellogg cereals that I had purchased back in January. (whew, that was a LONG sentence!).

I took Mr. CHiPy with me to maximize our time and efforts.  We ended up doing a total of 4 transactions (two each). Our first transactions were $15 each after $5.00 coupons; Second transactions were $5.00 each, after $5.00 coupons, and $10.00 catalinas. – Total spent $40.00; then we got back two additional $10.00 catalina’s for food. We ended up with 30 boxes of healthy Kellogg’s cereals, 10 boxes of 12 count not so healthy Pop Tarts (LOL!) and $20.00 of essentially free food – we bought fruit on special (grapes, nectarines, plums), 6 quarts of Dreyers ice cream, 1 dozen eggs and received $.75 cents in change.

So our total was $39.25 for everything. We saved $120.00!! Mr. CHiPy was so impressed.

I love shopping with coupons, but it really has to be a good deal, or I don't think it's worth my time.  This deal was definitely worth my time!

Bargain of the Week

This week I used two coupons to score a Swiffer Sweeper 2 in 1 Starter Kit and one package of 24 Swiffer Sweeper Wet Mopping Refills for a total of $.99 -  I saved $20 bucks!

Here's how I did it.  I used a $10 off the new Swiffer Sweep-n-Vac Starter Kit which my store did not have in stock so they allowed me to substitute the Swiffer Sweeper Starter Kit instead.  Regular price $10.99.  My cost with coupon $.99.  Then, I used a Buy-one-Swiffer Starter Kit get a Swiffer Sweeper Refill kit free.  Regular price $10.00.  My price with coupon, free.

I highly recommend following the two coupon sites I feature in my sidebar.  Use your coupons and score some great deals.

Time to have the kids mop the floor.

Stockpiling - Pork

It's time to feed my freezer again.  I was running low on pork and this week my local Safeway has bulk pork shoulder on sale for $.99/lb. This is an unadvertised special that the butcher told me about. Pork shoulder makes the BEST carnitas and at this price, it was a steal at $15 bucks for 15 lbs.

I started by finding the largest pan I had which is actually a 15x15 square cake pan with 3 inch sides. Perfect to hold all of this meat.  The easiest recipe I have is very simple.   I generously rubbed the pork shoulder with fajita seasoning mix and placed in the oven at 325 degrees and let it slow roast all day long - about 6 hours.
That's it.  So easy and my house smelled so good all day long.

And the result was delicious.

I now have enough cooked and shredded pork in my freezer for at least six more meals. Try it sometime.  I promise you won't be disappointed.

Stockpiling - Bread

My friend Susie turned me on to a great resource for discount bread right here in the Sacramento area. It's the Sara Lee Bakery - 916-681-8069 on Gerber Road. The bread is fresh and I pay only $.97 per loaf - which beats Entenmann's Bakery Outlet price of $1.97 and Costco's 2/$5 every time.

For $20 bucks I fed my freezer for the next 2 months. We love the Sara Lee Hearty Country White bread and the Hearty Buttermilk bread. In the picture below there are 10 loaves stocked away in the bottom drawer of my freezer.

I always grab a couple of loaves of Sara Lee's Thick Cut French Toast bread for weekend mornings when I make this for the kids. Also this month was something new...Ciabatta bread and at $2.50 for 8 rolls, it beats Costco's price of $4.99.  I stocked up on several packages.

I have always had great success freezing bread.  It doesn't stay that long in my freezer (max 2 months) so I don't have to worry about freezer burn.

It works for me.  Excellent quality bread at an excellent price.

Great Bargain Site

I've been able to score some great products by shopping online so I thought I'd share a new bargain site with you.

It's called It's Hip 2 Save and I added the button to my side bar on the right. This site is out of North Carolina and it features some great national deals. I especially like the free shipping and coupon codes for online shipping deals. Above are a few of online purchases I made for Christmas gifts. I didn't pay shipping/handling costs and in most cases I was able to get multiple coupon codes for next to free products. One of my favorite items is from Gevalia's gourmet herbal teas. The deal I got was three boxes of gourmet herbal tea and a stainless steel travel mug for $3.95 shipped. What a steal! This gift will be for Sugar's 5th grade teacher who loves herbal tea. Once we wrap it up in cellophane, it'll be a beautiful, yet really inexpensive gift for her favorite teacher.

What I also really like about this site is that on Monday's there are video posts on how to save in stores like Target, Walmart, CVS and Walgreens.

So get out there and be hip and start saving a buck!

Another Successful Trip to Target

I don't buy just anything when I have a coupon because I think it's just a waste of money. But Target has fantastic holiday sales going on right now and Mr. CHiPy and I are entertaining a lot starting on Friday. So...it's back to Target for more holiday deals. This time I had more manufacturer's coupons and I stacked these with the store coupons from Target for extra savings.

See the little Mr. Potato Head in the Santa outfit. He was priced at $5.99 but with my coupon he was only $.99. He's going in my "grandma's toy stash". The crackers and cereal were all less than $1 each. Lot's of really great deals. I purchased 42 items and my total was....



...$38.76 after coupons. That is less than shopping at The Dollar Store! These are all products I will use for my holiday cooking and entertaining this season.

I saved $53.57!

WOW! I'm Saving at Target

I love a good deal, don't you? And I love a great deal even more. As I was checking out different blogs this week I came across this great site called My Frugal Adventures. The site is based in Northern California and posts our region's deals along with other national deals that are going on. I love this site so much that I added the button to my sidebar over on the right...

Anyhow, I decided to give this site a try and followed the deals on sale at Target this week to stock my pantry for the upcoming holidays. Everything I purchased came from my new Target on Olsen. Sugar went with me and we scored some awesome deals.

There are 12 pounds of granny smith apples behind the ice cream and there is a 6lb turkey breast still in the Target bag next to the ice cream along with 2 bags of Lindt truffles 2 bags holiday M&M's, 4 bags marshmallows, 2 bags chocolate chips, 2 bags Pepperidge Farms' chessman cookies and so on...

Wow...I couldn't believe how much we got for $66.46 (after coupons).
Our total savings...$74.93!!! Honestly, I think we would have saved more if I had all of the manufacturers coupons. I had a lot and stacked those with the Target store coupons for terrific savings, but because I'm sort of new to couponing, I didn't have a stash to choose from. I expect my next shopping trip to be even better.
