Christmas Glasses STEAL!

I've been on the hunt for some cute holiday glasses.  When I saw these  at my local thrift store, I just couldn't resist buying all of them.

$4 bucks for the set of 8

They are hand painted and look so festive.

I've already used them twice today. I couldn't help it.  They are so stinkin' cute!

Maxi Skirt L♥VE

The Corridor Maxi Skirt from Anthropologie is adorable!  I love the bias cut, the striped fabric and the length.  At $118.00 though, it's a bit much for my summer wardrobe budget.

Anthropologie
But HELLO maxi skirt!  Thanks to my amazing sister-in-law Melanie, she gifted me one of her original designs - a Mused Texture maxi skirt.- bias cut and all.  I L♥ve it !
awkward self portraits :)

I'll be wearing this skirt often {think daily}.

Houston, we have a bed!

It's only semi-complete, but I couldn't wait to show the results so far.
I just love how it's turning out...soo cute!!

Here's a little recap with links to past posts:
The room has been primed
inspiration found and bed decor purchased
bunkbeds sold on craigslist.org
furniture purchased on craigslist.org (awaiting paint)
room re-painted
...and finally Jeff and I made a trip to costco for new full size mattress and box springs.

NOW we now have a semi-finished room.

Let's take a look at the before (in all fairness to Allie, this was after we had taken down the decor from the walls and thrown everything onto the bunkbeds)
And the semi-after:

I'm off to finish painting the rest of the bedroom furniture.  I'll post a complete reveal later.  It may take me a while.

See ya.

Tablecloth Bargain

My little kitchen table has spent most of the past three years a little exposed.  The glass/wrought iron look is a bit overkill, so I've been shopping for a tablecloth to change things up a bit.

Now that it's Fall, I decided I needed a tablecloth that would warmify it a bit.   I went to my neighborhood thrift store and came across the perfect solution...

What a lucky find!  The tablecloth is custom made out of a merlot crinkled taffeta.  It fits my little table perfectly and really warms up the area.   I took a chance and washed it in cold water and put it through my dryer...it cleaned up beautifully.

I ♥ that it only cost $3.00.

I encourage you to go checkout the thrift stores in your area.  You will be surprised with the treasures you find.

Ironstone-like Favorites

I've been shopping for ironstone platters for several years now with not much luck. Too expensive, or wrong glaze or too many irregularities. But guess what? I found the perfect ironstone-like serving pieces this past week...at Sams' Club.

Can you believe it?

Awesome!  I purchased 2 identical sets.  The first set came home with me 3 weeks ago.  They worked out so well, that I went back and purchased a second set.  The largest piece is 10"x15", then a 9"x9" and the smallest at a decent size of 8"x6".
Here's a close-up on the detail of these sweet pieces.
They are a cinch to store...they all stack inside of one another.  I love the light cream color with embossed pattern, the heavy weight, the size, the bonus that they are dishwasher, oven and microwave safe and best of all...the price.
  $19.99 for the set.

Don't you just love when you make a purchase and you get quality and quantity?  I love a great deal.

Coach STEAL!

This is the Coach checkbook wallet I've had my eye on for months!   It even has a name. She's called Penelope over at coach.com.

Isn't she lovely.

She's over at the Coach store with a price tag of $238.00! I've been waiting and waiting for her to go on sale but that hasn't happened.  I've gone with Mr. CHiPy to the Coach Outlet hoping that Penelope would make an appearance at a much lesser price.    I guess Penelope was not meant to be.

So a couple of days ago, I stopped by one of my favorite thrift stores...Goodwill in Folsom.  I didn't find anything this go round until I headed out the door and happened to glance into the glass case at the front desk.

And Lord have mercy...looky what I found!!  {{Squealing with delight!!}}

Could it be?  Well, it is an authentic box and it does have the serial number on it.  Look what's inside...

No, it's not Penelope, it's SOHO.  Classic signature SOHO.  And she's in PERFECT condition!  SOHO must have been a gift and got put aside and then donated to Goodwill.

And SOHO has a checkbook too!!

Side by side comparisons of SOHO and Penelope.  Other than the larger buckle and jacquard signature print, I could not tell any difference except
that I only paid...

$24.95!!
cha-ching!

Penelope was not meant to be, but SOHO sure was!

Upscale Thrifting

I'm not sure that the following two purchases qualify as thrifty treasures because I paid more for them than I have EVER spent in a thrift store. I could NOT pass them up because they were exactly what I have been looking for. The last time I decided to delay a purchase like this, the item was gone in a manner of minutes and I have regretted it ever since.

DEAL #1:
First up is a terrific mirror by the now defunct Bombay Company. The mirror happens to be the perfect size for my back hallway right between 2 bedrooms and will brighten up the entire space. It's about 40" tall by 30" across and I love the design around the outer and inner areas of the mirror. I think it's beautiful. (just please ignore Little Man's dirty clothes hamper that is so nicely displayed in the reflection!)

I paid $40.00.

I can't wait to clean it up, paint the hallway and then hang it in it's rightful spot.

DEAL #2:
Next up is this GORGEOUS tall lamp that is the right scale for this wall. I had no fewer than 6 ladies shopping at Goodwill stop me and ask if I was willing to give it up! Ha! That's when you know you have a great deal.

So here it is in my formal dining room (in front of a half painted wall, no less).

I paid $20.00. The shade is silk and the lamp is 38" tall and quite heavy. There is a small scratch on the lamp post but I think the right shade of marker will clean that right up.

I love my purchases, and although I paid $60.00, I feel like I got two really great deals.

Thrifty Treasures - Baskets

Over the past couple of weeks I've been scoring some great deals at one of my favorite thrift stores - Goodwill (on Blue Ravine in Folsom).

I'm always on the lookout for great baskets. I got these for $1-$2 each.

And some more baskets.

All of the 5 baskets are about 12" long and 8" wide. The depths vary but each will be great for various uses around the house.

How about you? Any great finds this week?
